When Microsoft and CEOP Go Back to the Dark Ages.

Today, a piece of news really caught my attention: Microsoft adds ‘one-click’ sex offender report tool. Few weeks ago I was shocked to see a new toolbar dedicated to the users of MySpace by which someone would only need to press a button to report anyone as a sexual aggressor and publicly display his or her address to eyes of the whole world. This, in my opinion, is the silliest thing that has ever existed.
Today I read that, in a deal made with CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre), Microsoft will soon add a button to the messenger (both MSN and Windows Live) and anyone, in the same way, will be able to report a contact as a sexual aggressor.
    WTF?

Firstly, throughout several studies, it transpires that, for the most part, messenger users are people between the age of 12 and 20 years old. So, were i a father, my 13 year-old kid, Tom, could simply press a button to report a contact as “sexual aggressor”.

The move sees the incorporation of a new Messenger tab and features the CEOP Centre’s distinctive “report abuse” icon which links users in the UK directly to online police services. This allows young people and adults to report suspicious behaviour and instances of inappropriate contact of a sexual nature they have encountered whilst chatting in this virtual environment.

However, Tom confessed he did that because he was jealous of John who talked to Sarah today. Unfortunately, poor John is now being watched by the police. How long did it take for this to happen?
